CONSIDERATION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (KDOT) IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,182,555 FOR THE FUNDING OF COORDINATED TRANSIT DISTRICT 9 WHICH INCLUDES THE SEDGWICK COUNTY RURAL TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM AND OTHER PARTICIPATING COUNTIES.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the grant application, and if awarded, authorize acceptance of the grant and any related documents and establish a new 1.0 FTE Driver position as outlined in the Personnel Considerations section of this item.

Grant Summary and Timeline: This is a one-year grant renewal that would provide continued funding for specialized general public transportation to rural Sedgwick County citizens. Program service areas are available in all incorporated cities including Andale, Bentley, Cheney, Clearwater, Colwich, Garden Plain, Mount Hope, Sedgwick, Peck and Viola, as well as 18 unincorporated areas. The renewal will continue to fund a volunteer-based transportation program provided in Bentley, Mount Hope and Clearwater as part of the Coordinated Transit Plan (CTP) and included in the Long Range Transportation Plan (MOVE2040). The first agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) was initiated by Sedgwick County in 1995. Grant application deadline is 11/17/2016 by 11:59PM.
Total program budgeted costs are $1,201,380.00, including the grant amount of $1,182,555 between state and federal sources, program charges, and a grant match as outlined in the financial considerations section below.
