Background: Healthy Babies and the Wichita Public Schools, Unified School District (USD) 259, have partnered since 2009 to provide education and resources on topics including abstinence, pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted infections and HIV, risky behaviors and making healthy choices. "Healthy Today, Healthy Tomorrow" presentations are provided by Healthy Babies nurses to 8th grade science and 9th grade physical education students in USD 259 middle and high schools. Healthy Babies is the only provider approved by the district to provide such education, ensuring that students receive accurate and consistent messaging.

In December 2010, Healthy Babies was approached by KDHE to accept the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) grant as part of our annual Aid-to-Local funding. The intent of the PREP project is to implement an evidence- and abstinence-based teen curriculum, "Reducing the Risks" for 9th grade physical education students in eight USD 259 high schools over the four-year grant period. Pre- and post-testing, as well as other evaluation processes and tools, will be required by KDHE to track outcomes and objectives as determined by the Administration of Children and Families, the federal grantor agency.
