Grant Summary and Timeline: Healthy Babies is a home/office visit program that provides preconception, prenatal and interconceptional group education designed to reduce the rate of teen and unwanted pregnancy in Sedgwick County while also improving birth outcomes of at-risk moms. Services are available to all Sedgwick County residents regardless of income or insurance coverage, and services are provided by Registered Nurses and Community Liaisons prenatally through the childs second birthday.

Healthy Babies and the Wichita Public Schools, Unified School District (USD) 259, have partnered since 2009 to provide education and resources on topics including abstinence, pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted infections and HIV, risky behaviors and making healthy choices. Healthy Babies nurses provide "Healthy Today, Healthy Tomorrow" presentations to 8th grade science and 9th grade physical education students in USD 259 middle and high schools. Healthy Babies is the only provider approved by USD 259 to provide such education, ensuring that students receive accurate and consistent messaging.
