Grant Summary and Timeline: The SFY20 Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) budget includes funding to support the Justice Reinvestment Initiative (HB2170). The purpose of the funding is to enhance and/or develop behavioral health programs/interventions in the community and reduce recidivism with adult felony offenders as a result. The SFY20 budget includes funding to sustain current positions that provide cognitive skills programming peer mentoring and mental health strategies provide to reduce recidivism. In addition, the application requests funding to restore a peer mentor/substance treatment provider that was not funded in SFY19 and addition of a position for implementation of Batterer's Intervention Program. The Community Corrections Advisory Board approved the grant application/fiscal workbook submissions at their March 28, 2019 meeting.
