CONSIDERATION OF A FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION (FTA) ?5310 GRANT APPLICATION TO THE CITY OF WICHITA IN THE AMOUNT OF $293,551 FOR THE FUNDING OF MEDICAL AND SOCIAL SERVICE TRANSPORTATION FOR SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the grant application, authorize the Chairman to sign grant application documents, and if awarded, authorize acceptance of the grant, establish budget authority as provided in the Financial Considerations section of this request, and establish a new 1.0 FTE Driver position as outlined in the Personnel Considerations section of this item.

Grant Summary and Timeline: This is a two-year grant application that would provide general public transportation for individuals with disabilities and seniors age 60 and older in urbanized communities in Sedgwick County. Program service areas will be the incorporated cities of Kechi, Valley Center, Maize, Goddard, Haysville, Derby, Mulvane, Bel Aire, and Park City, and unincorporated areas of Furley and Schulte. This grant application will provide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible transportation services to consumers in target areas having a positive economic impact, reduce institutionalization, and keep individuals in the community. Grant application deadline is Friday, March 15, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. CST.
Total program costs are $455,487.00 for the two-year grant term including a grant application for vehicle acquisition. The four attached grant applications for Sedgwick County Transportation program requests funding for operations, vehicle acquisition, preventative maintenance, and contractual rides.
