Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Clearwater, Kansas and Sedgwick County for Temporary Emergency Medical Services Assistance.

Recommended Action: Approve the Memorandum of Agreement.
In order to satisfy a requirement from the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the City of Clearwater has requested a formal agreement for Sedgwick County to provide emergency medical services to their community. Sedgwick County EMS will be automatically dispatched for all EMS related calls in Clearwater. Sedgwick County EMS will disregard if Clearwater EMS has an ambulance available.
The agreement is for temporary assistance and will expire on June 30, 2019. The temporary period will give Clearwater time to improve their staffing abilities for their ambulance service.
Alternatives: Do not provide assistance to Clearwater.
Financial Considerations: No costs directly associated with this MOU are anticipated.
Legal Considerations: This action is authorized by K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
