Ten 2019 Aging mill levy contracts for In-Home and Community Services.

Recommended Action: Approve the contracts and authorize the Chairman to sign.

 

These ten contracts are for In-Home and Community Service programs such as Senior Companion, Meals on Wheels, Roving Pantry, Commodity Delivery, and Legal Services, that assist older adults to live quality lives and remain in their homes for as long as possible. The Sedgwick County Advisory Council on Aging and Physical Disabilities reviewed and approved funding recommendations at the September 12, 2018 meeting.

 

Alternatives: Not approve the contracts.

Term: Contract term is for one year: January 1, 2019 - December 31, 2019

Catholic Charities, Inc. - Adult Day Service Program - $16,000.

Guadalupe Clinic, Inc.  - Health Screening and Prescription Voucher Program - $27,881

Kansas Legal Services, Inc. - Protective Legal Services for the Elders - $27,675

Medical Services Bureau - Plus Medical Services for Seniors - $36,380

Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas, Inc.-Senior Companion Program - $29,874

Senior Services, Inc. of Wichita - Meals on Wheels - $197,207

Senior Services, Inc. of Wichita - Roving Pantry - $53,300

Senior Services, Inc. of Wichita - Senior Employment Program - $55,028

United Methodist Urban Ministries - Commodity Supplemental Food Delivery Program - $7,500

Budget Authority Adjustment:  Sufficient budget authority is included in the 2019 budget approved August 15, 2018.  No additional budget authority is being requested. 

 

Legal Considerations:  The County can enter into the referenced contracts under its home rule powers, as provided for by K.S.A. 19-101 et seq.  Approval is by simple majority vote.
