A public hearing is required to be held on the proposed incorporation and adoption of a code pursuant to K.S.A. 12-3303. This agenda item proposes to set a public hearing for the adoption of a new platform lift and stairway chairlift safety standard within the Wichita-Sedgwick County Unified Building and Trade Code (UBTC) to replace the existing platform lift and stairway chairlift safety standard. In this case, the 2017 Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts (ASME A18.1) published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), is proposed to be adopted, with various amendments, additions and omissions.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this resolution is K.S.A. 19-101 et seq. The hearing is required to be scheduled and published once in the official County newspaper by K.S.S. 12-3303. The hearing may be established by a simple majority vote.
