Title

Resolution to Amend the Duties of the Sedgwick County Advisory Council on Aging and Proposed Adoption of the Sedgwick County Advisory Council on Aging and Physical Disabilities 2018 Bylaws.

Body

Recommended Action:  Adopt the resolution, approve the bylaws, and authorize the Chairman to sign the bylaws.

Resolution establishing the Advisory Council on Aging was adopted in 1987. Duties of the Council to include physical disabilities had been administratively added into the purview of the Advisory Council on Aging in 2011.

Changes to the Bylaws of the Sedgwick County Advisory Council on Aging resulted from a recent review of the bylaws by a Council committee. The full Council unanimously approved to amend the duties and bylaws of the Council to include Aging and Physical Disabilities at the June 13, 2018 meeting.  On November 7, 2018, Joe Brown, Chair of the Sedgwick County Advisory Council on Aging, signed off on the amended bylaws.  Annually, the Council reviews requests for proposals for mill levy funding and make recommendations for funding allocations for programs that serve the needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Alternatives:  Do not approve the resolution and bylaws, and the current bylaws will be used.
