Affiliation Agreement with Unified School District No. 259.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: Unified School District No. 259 (USD 259) is requesting to place Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) in five USD 259 schools. These QMHPs will be COMCARE staff that will be based at an assigned school. The QMHPs will provide school-based mental health services to USD 259 students who meet medical necessity for therapy services. Providing services in a school-based setting will allow the QMHP increased access to students in need of mental health services. A school-based setting also allows school staff access to the QMHPs when collaboration is needed to address student needs.
USD 259 has agreed to pay COMCARE $1,000 per semester for each QMHP who provides services beginning on the first day of a semester and ending on the last day of the semester. COMCARE will also be billing insurance providers as appropriate for services provided to students.
Alternatives: This is a great opportunity for COMCARE to increase collaboration efforts with USD 259 to address mental health issues affecting children in this community. This collaboration is also a revenue generating opportunity for COMCARE through therapy services. If this agreement is not approved COMCARE will lose a unique opportunity to strengthen a collaboration with USD 259 and an opportunity to gain a revenue source.
Financial Considerations: $10,000.00
Policy considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A 19-101 and a simple majority vote is required.
Legal considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this contract.
