PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE 2019 SEDGWICK COUNTY BUDGET.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Open the public hearing, receive public comment, and close the public hearing.

This is the first of two public hearings to be held regarding the 2019 Sedgwick County budget. The second public budget hearing is scheduled for Thursday, August 9th at 6 p.m. Budget adoption is scheduled for Wednesday, August 15th at 9 a.m.

Financial Considerations: As presented on July 18, the 2019 recommended budget totaled $419,042,893, which includes a property tax levy of $142,756,344. The property tax levy is approximately equivalent to a property tax rate, expressed in mills, of 29.359 mills, based on the estimated assessed valuation and subject to review and technical adjustments.
Legal Considerations: At least one public hearing is required by K.S.A. 79-2929.
