RESOLUTION REGARDING SUBMISSION OF ELECTRONIC PLANS.

Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD) recently purchased software to enable plan review staff to receive and review plans electronically with the ultimate goal of transitioning to a single process for the electronic submission and review of plans as of January 1, 2019.
A transition period would be provided for parties who submit plans to prepare for the requirement that they be submitted electronically. Recognizing that there will be additional costs and inefficiencies of handling and scanning in physical copies of plans, as well as additional costs and inefficiencies of maintaining dual processes, MABCD is requesting that a reasonable approximation of that additional cost (a 10% charge added to the plan review fee) be passed to parties who continue to submit physical copies of plans through December 31, 2018. MABCD is also requesting that the date to no longer accept paper plans be established as January 1, 2019.
