Recommended Action: Approve the item and authorize the Chairman to sign the amendment.
Emergency Communications currently contracts with American Tower, L.P., to house radio equipment on its communications tower located at 6555 N. 151st Street W., Colwich, KS. Emergency Communications seeks to install ice shields over the radio equipment on this tower. In order to install the ice shields, an amendment to the current lease agreement must be in place. The amendment includes an updated listing of Sedgwick County equipment on the tower and an increase of the monthly lease by $3,200 for the additional equipment.
Alternatives: Do not approve the agreement.
Financial Considerations: The amended lease will increase by $38,400 annually, making total amount for this tower $96,000 annually. This increase would be covered by Emergency Telephone Services fees, as allowable by statute. Sufficient budget authority exists in the 2018 budget for the amended lease costs.
Legal Considerations: This action is authorized by K.S.A. 19-101, et. seq. A simple majority is required.
