This resolution, if passed, will aid in future planned litigation against drug manufacturers/distributers under the theory that such manufacturers/distributers did not uphold their duty of reporting large, suspicious distributions of prescription opioids into Sedgwick County. This litigation, if successful, will provide a source of funds for the County that could be used for, among other things, funding government services that combat the effects of the national opioid crisis. This litigation may also result in reducing the availability of prescription opioids for those who abuse large quantities. Alternatives: Do not adopt the Resolution.
