Title

A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE SALE OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY SEDGWICK COUNTY, KANSAS.

Presented by: Will Deer, Assistant County Counselor.

PROPOSED ACTION: Adopt the resolution pursuant to the will of the Board of County Commissioners.

Body

Sedgwick County currently owns 122.95 acres of land at 1500 E. 77th St. The structures on the land were constructed and completed on October 1, 1989 for pari-mutual racing of greyhounds and formerly operated as the Wichita Greyhound Park. The main structure has a footprint of 43,185 square feet with a second level and open mezzanine of 60,450 square feet. Additionally, there are (20) 1,600 SF kennels plus other outbuildings and the dog track. The property is currently under a long term ground lease between Sedgwick County and a third party on the 3 east parcels (82 acres) that expire in 2039.  The recommended action authorizes the sale of 122.95 acres and structures identified in the attached map.

Alternatives:  The County could elect to retain the surplus property.

Financial Considerations:  Proceeds of the sale will be deposited in the County General Fund.

Legal Considerations:  The BoCC is authorized to sell and convey real estate held by the County under K.S.A. 19-101 third; 19-211 (b) and County Res. No. 119-204.
