Recommended Action: Establish additional 2017 Budget Authority in the PHEP Grant (Cost Center 13017-257).
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) cooperative agreement is a critical source of funding for state, local, tribal and territorial public health departments. Due to the timing of the grant award, $12,620 of budget authority was not established for this fund during the normal 2017 budget development process. Emergency Management is requesting $2,000 of budget authority from the available $12,620 to meet current and pending expenditure needs anticipated throughout the remainder of the year.
Alternatives: Do not establish $2,000 of budget authority for PHEP grant for the rest of 2017. Emergency Management will establish additional budget authority during the grant renewal process.
Financial Considerations: Establish additional 2017 budget authority in the amount of $2,000 in the Emergency Management cost center 13017-257. This reflects 15.8% of the balance of funds available in 13017-257.
Legal Considerations: This action is authorized by K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority is required.
