On August 8, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners approved Legistar Agenda Item #18-642 which was a grant application for the continuation of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The taskforce includes two detectives, one from the Sheriff's Office and one from the Wichita Police Department (WPD). The grant application budget included funding of the Wichita Police Detective and related vehicle costs in the amount of $129,157.00. The county received notice of the grant award on September 26, 2018 which provided full funding as requested in the application. This agreement provides a sub-grant mechanism whereby the County can reimburse the City of Wichita for grant-related costs of the WPD detective that were included in the approved grant award budget. Based on the approved budget the County will reimburse the City of Wichita up to $129,157.00 for allowable costs related to the ICAC Taskforce operations for the period 10/1/2018 through 9/30/2019.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq.  A simple majority vote is required. The terms and conditions of this agreement are substantially similar to prior agreements. The agreement has been reviewed and approved by the County Counselor’s Office.

Policy Considerations: None.
