Government Services Agreement for as requested Code Inspection of Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fuel Gas Codes by Sedgwick County for Commercial Buildings in the Unincorporated Area of Sumner County.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
In 2010 (and as later modified in 2013), Sedgwick County and Sumner County reached an agreement under which Sedgwick County (now, the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department, “MABCD”) would undertake code inspections within Sumner County upon request by Sumner County. The 2010 agreement and the 2013 amendment contemplated Sedgwick County receiving fifty percent (50%) of the code inspection fees.
Due to the amount of travel and time involved in several of the inspections, the parties have agreed to adopt a new agreement under which Sedgwick County would receive one hundred percent (100%) of the code inspection fees.
This agreement was approved by the Board of County Commissioners of Sumner County on August 8, 2017.
Alternatives: Do not approve the agreement.
Financial Considerations: As outlined above, the agreement includes a provision that allows the County to retain 100% of code inspection fees received as a result of work performed in Sumner County.
Legal Considerations: The County can enter into this agreement pursuant to K.S.A. 12-2908. Approval is by simple majority vote.
