Agreement with KDOT for Construction of Phase 2 of the Aviation Pathway Connecting Derby with Wichita (R-330A). District 5.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
The project connects Derby to Wichita following a route that began at Oliver and Commerce in Derby, follows Oliver to 47th St. South, proceeds west on 47th St. South to Clifton, then north on Clifton and Englewood to MacArthur and includes an extension south along Clifton to serve the Oaklawn School. The first phase (the portion along Oliver) was completed in early 2017. The second phase will extend the pathway up to Clifton and Cumberland Way and include the extension to the Oaklawn School. A third phase will be needed to extend the pathway from Clifton and Cumberland Way up to Englewood and MacArthur. The project is eligible for 80% federal funding through WAMPO.
Alternatives: Take such action as the board deems appropriate.
Financial Considerations: KDOT will contribute up to $1,100,000.00 in federal funds. Sedgwick County and the City of Derby will contribute $274,999.00 to fund the local project match. Project costs exceeding a total of $1,374,999.00 will be paid by Derby and Sedgwick County.
Legal Considerations: The County is authorized to enter into contracts with the Secretary of Transportation to participate in the benefits of federal aid funds under K.S.A. 68-402-b.
