Body

A public hearing is required to adopt a new elevator safety code within the Unified Building and Trade Code (“UBTC”) to replace the existing elevator safety code.  In this case, the 2016 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators (ASME A17.1) published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (“ASME”), is proposed to be adopted, with various amendments, additions, and omissions that are included within the resolution.  Also, along with the 2016 ASME A17.1, the 2014 Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts (ASME A18.1), and the 2015 Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators (ASME A17.3), also published by the ASME, is proposed to be adopted.

                                            (2) Approve an amended version of the resolution; and
