PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE 2018 FIRE DISTRICT 1 BUDGET.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Open the public hearing, receive public comment, and close the public hearing.

This is the first of two public hearings to be held regarding the 2018 Fire District 1 budget. The second public budget hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 31 at 6 p.m. Budget adoption is scheduled for Wednesday, August 2 at 9 a.m.

Financial Considerations: As presented on July 12, the 2018 recommended budget totaled $17,957,696 which includes a property tax levy of $16,458,571. The property tax levy is approximately equivalent to a property tax rate, expressed in mills, of 18.414 mills, based on the estimated assessed valuation and subject to review and technical adjustments.
Legal Considerations: At least one public hearing is required by K.S.A. 79-2929.
