Amendment to the 2017 Capital Improvement Program for Judge Riddel Boys Ranch demolition.

Recommended Action: Approve the amendment to the Capital Improvement Program.

This project is to remediate asbestos in the main JRBR building and demolish all existing JRBR buildings (with the exception of the metal hay storage building) and various recreational features on the property formerly known as the Judge Riddel Boys Ranch located at 25331 W. 39^th St. S Goddard KS.  After demolition, the area will become Lake Afton park grounds.  

Alternatives:  Not approve the amendment and the project would not proceed.

Financial Considerations:  $244,570 will be transferred from the CIP Contingency Reserve Fund.

Legal Considerations:  The Board of County Commissioners is authorized to amend the Capital Improvement Program under K.S.A. 19-120.  A simple majority vote is required.
