Title

First Amendment of an Agreement between the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County to extend the agreement period to correspond with the extended ICAC Grant Award period.

Body

Recommended Action: Approve the amendment and authorize the Chairman to sign.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce Commander was recently notified by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)  that the ICAC Grant award was being extended from a June 30, 2017 end date to September 30, 2017.  This grant award extension corresponds with a revised FY'17 ICAC Grant period to start October 1, 2017 instead of July 1, 2017.    The amendment to the City of Wichita Agreement allows the City to continue utilizing any unspent budgeted grant funds on taskforce related activities through the end of the revised grant award period.

Alternatives: This agreement allows the City of Wichita to expend funds previously allocated to it through the ICAC Grant award and the original Agreement between the County and City. To not approve this would restrict the full utilization of the grant funds for the ICAC Taskforce as originally developed.

Financial Considerations: No additional budget authority is requested with this extension as existing grant award funding and related budget will be utilized.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 12-2908.  A simple majority vote is required.

Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies were followed in the development of this agreement amendment.
