Title

PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED ADOPTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE, INTERNATIONAL FUEL GAS CODE, AND INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE, ALL 2015 EDITIONS.

Presented by: Kortney D. Capello, Interim Director, Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Division (MABCD).

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Open the public hearing, receive public comment, close the public hearing, and approve the resolution.

Body

A public hearing is required to be held on this proposed code adoption pursuant to K.S.A. 12-3303. The resolution proposes the adoption of the 2015 version of the International Mechanical Code (“IMC”), published by the International Code Council (“ICC”), with amendments, as well as portions of the 2015 International Fuel Gas Code and the 2015 International Residential Code (also both ICC publications) as they pertain to mechanical matters.

These provisions would replace similar existing provisions that generally adopt the 2012 IMC within Article 5 of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Unified Building and Trade Code. These proposed amendments were recommended by a unanimous vote of the Mechanical Board.

Alternatives:  (1) Not to approve the resolution;

                                          (2) Approve an amended version of the resolution; and

                                          (3) Defer further consideration of the resolution to a future meeting.
