Consideration of a Kansas Department of Corrections - Division of Juvenile Services SFY17 Contract, which continues services contained in the Juvenile Justice Strategic Plan.

Recommended Action: Approve the contract and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Sedgwick County began receiving funding for local juvenile justice programming in 1998. In order to continue to receive grant funds, Sedgwick County submitted an annual funding application in December (BOCC approval on December 21, 2016). Fund distribution is likely to be mid-January based upon processing times for the Kansas Department of Administration and availability of funds for State agencies. This year, KDOC-JS split the SFY17 grant year into six-month increments; this contract will complete the remaining six months of SFY17.
The following contract will provide for:
State grant-funded services during SFY17: Kansas Legal Services, Detention Advocacy Service - $83,664
The Sedgwick County Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board (Team Justice) approved the grant application on December 2, 2016. The BOCC approved the grant application for this prevention program on December 21, 2016.

Financial Considerations: The program is budgeted in fund center/internal order 33003-253 / 330036-17. Budget authority was approved in the CY2017 County budget.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq. A simple majority vote is required.
