Background: This is a renewal of contracts for Sedgwick County's Christmas TreeCycle Program. Each year locations are provided for Sedgwick County residents to drop off their used Christmas trees to be ground into mulch. Sedgwick County will provide site set-up, Christmas tree grinding and mulch production for public use, and final site clean-up. The terms of these contracts shall be effective December 1, 2016, and shall expire November 30, 2021. The program is to run each year of this agreement from December 22 through January 23.The contracts reflect the following participating locations:

Alternatives: Deny the request and do not provide this service.
Financial Considerations: Costs associated with this program include an average of $980 per year for small waste containers for minor trash at collection sites, and $500 per year for advertising the program. No additional budget authority is being requested.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 65-3401, et seq. A simple majority is required.
