Recommended Action: Authorize the termination of the contract which would allow the RFSC to submit an RFP for more cost effective services.
The Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center's contract with Preferred Mortuary for cremation services ends on May 20, 2017.The RFSC would like to exercise the option to terminate the contract with 60-days written notice. Said termination will be effective Monday, December 12, 2016. Sedgwick County will be adjusting the burial and cremation services we offer and will release a new RFP in the coming weeks.
Sedgwick County has established Monday, January 9, 2017, as the last and final date that it will accept any final invoices for payment. Invoices submitted after this date will not be processed for payment.
Alternatives: The BoCC could choose not to approve the termination of the contract in which case the RFSC would continue to use Preferred Mortuary for cremation services.
Financial Considerations: N/A
Legal Considerations: Authority for action granted under KSA 19-101a. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: This follows all Sedgwick County policies and procedures.
