Title

Resolution for the Interfund Transfer of $115,941 from the County General Fund to the Corrections Grant Fund.

Body

Recommended Action: Adopt the resolution.

The Sedgwick County Department of Corrections operates two state-mandated programs: the Adult Intensive Supervision Program (AISP) and the Adult Residential Center Program (ARES).  A combination of state funding, client generated revenue and General Fund dollars cover the expenses for both programs.  For State Fiscal Year 2016, a shortfall in funding has occurred in the Corrections Grant Fund, mostly related to retirement payouts for five staff.  This interfund transfer will cover the shortfall.  The State requires reporting on grant-funded programs by July 31.

Alternatives: Do not approve the interfund transfer.

Financial Considerations: In addition to the total included in the 2016 adopted budget ($630,000), the requested action will transfer cash in the amount of $115,941 from the Adult Residential Center Program (33023-110) to the Corrections Grant Fund, specifically the Adult Intermediate Services and Sanctions program (33015-253) within the Department of Corrections.

Legal Considerations:  State budget law K.S.A. 12-16,111 allows for the interfund transfer of monies via resolution.

Policy Considerations:  N/A
