Title

Agreement with Heartspring, Inc. for Psychiatric Consultation Services.

Body

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.

Background: This contract outlines the terms for COMCARE to provide professional psychiatry services at Heartspring, Inc. for children with developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses. The agreement includes eight hours of services a month at a rate of $165.00 per hour. Services provided under this agreement include evaluation, review, and monitoring of the use of psychotropic medications, treatment recommendations, review of enrollment applications to ensure appropriateness of placement at Heartspring, emergency psychiatric consultation, and communication with parents of enrolled students.

Alternatives: This agreement has provided a mutually beneficial relationship between Heartspring and COMCARE. Without the agreement, Heartspring would need to secure the services of another child psychiatrist, which would be difficult given the very limited supply of board certified child psychiatrists in our community. Through this contract, COMCARE doctors specializing in child psychiatry are able to assist other service providers within our community to provide the care needed for their patients.

Financial Considerations:

Revenue: Heartspring pays COMCARE $165.00 per hour for services provided under this agreement. In FY 2016 COMCARE has invoiced $11,632.50.

Funding Source: 310876-17 FCCS Medical Services.

Term: 07/01/16-06/30/17

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101 and a simple majority vote is required.

Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this renewal agreement.
