Grant Summary and Timeline: Since 1983, the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) has provided grant funding for Community Corrections Adult Offender Programs in Sedgwick County. KDOC requires the submission of a Community Corrections Comprehensive Plan for SFY17 (July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017) prior to grant awards being finalized. The signed plan is due to KDOC no later than May 2, 2016. The Corrections Advisory Board approved the application on April 14, 2016.

Source of other funding: $620,008 in 33027-110 (CY17 request), $300,000 in 33023-110 (CY17 request) and $546,998 in client revenue. The Department of Corrections will also apply for local and federal Justice Assistance Grants (JAG), as done in the past. Once the final award is received from KDOC, adjustments will be made to the proposed budget.
Budget Authority Adjustment: Requests for additional authority for 2016 include $30,000 in 33014-253, $104,000 in 33015-253 and $50,000 in 33020-253. Details are included in the attached budget forms.

Expected measurable outcomes: To improve the rate of successful program completions in SFY17 by at least 3% from the previous year. To increase utilization of specialized interventions in an effort to improve offender success on probation. To fully integrate the Effective Practices in Community Supervision (EPICS) training tools into case management practices in an effort to improve client outcomes.
Requirements from Sedgwick County: Quarterly program and fiscal reports
Alternatives: If we do not submit a plan for approval, we will not continue to receive these KDOC funds. We are obligated under state law K.S.A. 75-5291 to provide community corrections supervision to offenders assigned by the District Court.
