Body

On March 25, 2009 Sedgwick County was awarded and accepted a Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Kansas Department of Commerce in the amount of $4,643,124.  In accordance with the NSP guidelines the funding was used to provide Financing Mechanisms, Rehabilitation of homes, and Redevelopment of demolished and/or vacant properties due to foreclosures.  Once rehabilitated or redeveloped the houses were sold to low to moderate income buyers to be used as their primary residence.  The original award was scheduled to end September 30,2013, however a 2 year extension was granted with an additional award of $1,000,000 to extend the program to September 30, 2015.  Throughout the program the South Central Kansas Economic Development District has served as the Program Administrator and has provided essential services to see that the program has complied with all grant requirements and successfully completed all aspects of the grant program. Now that all program activity has been completed the County must conduct a public hearing to officially close out the program as required by the Grant Award conditions.
