Request for additional budget authority in the 2015 Risk Management Fund Budget.

Recommended Action: Authorize the establishment of $279,000 in additional budget authority in the Risk Management Fund for 2015.
Background: On May 29, 2013, a hail storm cause damage to the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) facility. The Purchasing Office issued a bid document to obtain bids to repair the Kalwall Insulated Translucent Skylight System damaged during this storm. Two bids were opened on November 17, 2015. The low bid of $278,965 was submitted by Claco Supply, Inc. A claim was submitted to the County property insurance company. To date, the County has received a claim payment of $259,671.
Alternatives: Do not add additional budget authority to the Risk Management Fund, which would cause Risk Management to be unable to pay for costs associated with departmental or citizen claims until 2016.
Financial Considerations: Along with the claim payment received in the Risk Management Fund, there is sufficient fund balance in the Risk Management Fund to support the additional budget authority.
Legal Considerations: The authority of this action is K.S.A. 75-6110. A simple majority vote is required.
