Renewal Agreement with Child Advocacy Center and Sedgwick County.

Body

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.

Background: The agreement with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) will provide support to enhance services for victims of child abuse in Sedgwick County. The CAC utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to reduce stress and trauma to child abuse victims and their families. Professionals representing prosecution, medical, therapeutic, law enforcement, and social service and advocacy agencies work together to ensure a coordinated approach to serve the best interests of the child. The CAC and its partner agencies provide a variety of services, including:

                                          - Investigation services;

                                          - Medical evaluation;

                                          - Advocacy;

                                          - Legal services; and

                                          - Mental health services.

This contract is a renewal agreement with no significant changes to the contract.

Alternatives:The County funding is an important component of the CAC's budget structure. WIthout this contract, the Child Advocacy Center would have to reevaluate its budget and potentially reduce services.
