Contracts with the City of Mulvane and Park City to provide ride coordination services for the Sedgwick County Department on Aging Transportation Program's, Volunteer Transportation Program.

Recommended Action: Approve the two contracts and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Transportation services will be provided by RSVP Volunteer Program volunteers in their private vehicles; they are insured through the RSVP Volunteer Program. The RSVP Volunteer Program is focused on the development of a network of skilled volunteers, age 55 and older, that provide a wide range of services in the community. The first contracts for the volunteer transportation program with Senior Centers were initiated by the County in 2005.
Term of contracts: October 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016.
This contract funds a coordinated volunteer transportation service from the two cities (Mulvane and Park City). The types of trips provided includes transportation for: employment, medical appointments, human service agency visits, pharmacies, banks, law firms, tax preparation agencies, hospital, senior centers and nursing home visitations. The Department on Aging is designated to administer federal, state and local funds allocated to provide programs and services for older adults. Our mission is to assist seniors, caregivers and individuals with disabilities to achieve improved health and greater independence. Utilizing volunteers to provide transportation service helps meet a need in smaller communities.
Alternatives: The County Commission could elect not to approve the contracts.
