Request for additional budget authority in the 2015 Risk Management Fund Budget.

Recommended Action: Authorize the establishment of $250,000 in additional budget authority in the Risk Management Fund for 2015.
Background: Due to significant costs related to the severe storm that moved through the area on April 3, 2015, operational expenses are anticipated to exceed the current budgeted amount. By providing the additional budget authority, Risk Management will be able to conduct necessary business for the remainder of 2015.
Alternatives: Do not add additional budget authority to the Risk Management Fund, which would cause Risk Management to be unable to pay for costs associated with departmental or citizen claims until 2016.
Financial Considerations: The Risk Management Fund has sufficient fund balance to fund the additional budget authority.
Legal Considerations: The authority of this action is K.S.A. 75-6110. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of consent item.
