Body

On September 21, 2015, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office was notified of a grant award in the form of a Cooperative Agreement from the Department of Justice to continue funding operations of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce.  The taskforce includes two detectives, one from the Sheriff's Office and one from the Wichita Police Department (WPD).  The agreement provides a subgrant mechanism whereby the County can reimburse the City of Wichita for grant-related costs of the WPD detective that were included in the approved grant award budget.  Based on the approved budget, the County will reimburse the City of Wichita no more than $123,370.00 for costs related to the ICAC Taskforce operations for the period 7/1/2015 through 6/30/2016.

Alternatives:  Deny the agreement.

Financial Considerations: A U.S. Department of Justice Cooperative Agreement (Grant) funds this agreement in the amount of $123,370.00.  A budget authority adjustment for fund center 17001-260 is requested for 2015 in the amount of $73,190 and for 2016 in the amount of $48,084, as outlined in the attached grant form.

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq.  A simple majority vote is required.  The terms and conditions of this agreement are substantially similar to prior agreements.  The agreement has been reviewed and approved by the County Counselor’s Office.
