Title

Sedgwick County Department on Aging, Sedgwick County Housing Authority Five Year Plan as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for approval by the governing body for the local program.

Body

Recommended Action:  Approve the chair to sign the Five Year and Annual update plan for Sedgwick County Housing Authority.

Summary and Timeline:  This is a request for the Board of Sedgwick County Commissioners to review and approve the chair to sign the Five Year and Annual HUD plan for the Sedgwick County Housing Authority.  A public hearing regarding the plan was held on 5/29/2015 and reviewed by the housing advisory board made up of current housing recipients.

Financial Considerations:  If the governing body chooses not to sign the five-year plan, HUD could choose to sanction the County for non-compliance, resulting in a loss of administrative reimbursement funding.

Alternatives: Not approve the Five Year and Annual Plan.

Personnel considerations:  No change from approved grant.

Policy considerations: HUD requires Housing Authorities to review and update their five year and annual plans.

Legal considerations:  Housing authorities are required to submit five year and annual plans pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1437c-1.  Approval is by simple majority vote.
