Approval of an agreement between Sedgwick County and Tanganyika Wildlife Park, LLC for the closure of certain County roadways for the purpose of hosting the Meritrust Tiger Trot at Tanganyika on Sunday, September 20, 2015.

Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the chairman to sign.
This is an annual recurring event. Due to the growth in the number of participants for this event and for safety reasons, the County will grant the Tanganyika Wildlife Park, LLC the authority to close to normal vehicle traffic the roadway controlled and maintained by the County as indicated on the map attached to the agreement and shown as Exhibit A.
Tanganyika Wildlife Park, LLC has agreed to coordinate with and follow directions of the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office with regard to all traffic control and public safety issues in and around the area of the event. In addition, Tanganyika Wildlife Park agrees to coordinate with the City of Goddard in regard to traffic control and public safety issues with the event as well as agrees to notify area residents of the road closure well in advance of the event using all reasonable means.
Financial Considerations: There are no special expenses or costs.
Legal Considerations: K.S.A. 19-212 vests the Board of County Commissioners with broad powers in conducting the business of the county. The County’s general police powers allow protection of the public health, safety, and general welfare of the public. The terms and conditions of this agreement are similar to prior controlled access agreements. A Certificate of Insurance, approved by the Office of the County Counselor, is required and has been provided pursuant to Section 4 of the agreement.
