This is the second and last public hearing regarding the 2016 Fire District 1 budget. On July 22, the Board of County Commissioners set the maximum property tax levy that can be used to fund the 2016 Sedgwick County budget. The first public budget hearing was held on July 29, and budget adoption is scheduled for August 12.

Financial Considerations: The 2016 Recommended Fire District budget is $18,155,963, which includes a property tax levy of $15,246,367. The property tax levy is approximately equivalent to a property tax rate, expressed in mills, of 18.367 mills. The mill rate is based on the estimated assessed valuation and is subject to review and technical adjustments.
