Recommended Action: Approve the amendment and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: Dr. Katherine Girrens provides on-call and weekend psychiatry services for COMCARE clients. As a psychiatrist, Dr. Girrens provides medication assessments and medication monitoring services for clients, particularly clients receiving inpatient services at Via Christi Good Shepherd over the weekend, holidays, and after-hours.
The amendment marks changes to section 7 (malpractice liability) of the original contract. Dr. Girrens has opted to provide her own malpractice insurance. The amendment outlines the required malpractice liability insurance that Dr. Girrens must maintain under her employment agreement with COMCARE.
Alternatives: If the amendment is not approved COMCARE will maintain Dr. Girrens malpractice liability under Sedgwick County.
Financial Considerations: There are no financial consideration under this amendment.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this employment agreement.
