Kansas Department of Corrections - Juvenile Services SFY16 Contract to continue services contained in the Juvenile Justice Strategic Plan.

Recommended Action: Approve the contract and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Sedgwick County began receiving funding from the Juvenile Justice Authority for local juvenile justice programming in 1998; the agency is now the Kansas Department of Corrections - Division of Juvenile Services. In order to continue to receive grant funds, Sedgwick County submitted an annual funding application in April (BOCC approval on April 22, 2015). Similar to prior years, funds distribution is likely to be mid-July based upon processing times for the Department of Administration and availability of funds for State agencies. The following contract will provide for:
State grant-funded services during SFY 2016:
Kansas Legal Services, Detention Advocacy Service - $167,327
(The total prevention allocation for SFY 2016 is $401,208.)
The Sedgwick County Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board (Team Justice) approved the SFY 2016 State Block Grant Application on April 3, 2015.

Financial Considerations: Sufficient budget authority is available in 33003-253 / 330036-16.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq and K.S.A. 75-5295. A simple majority vote is required.
