A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE WICHITA-SEDGWICK COUNTY UNIFIED BUILDING AND TRADE CODE BY ADDING A PROVISION TO LIMIT CODE ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS TO ANY LAWS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO STATUTES, REGULATIONS, CODES, RESOLUTIONS, AND ORDINANCES THAT ARE APPLICABLE WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF THE PROPERTY THAT IS THE SUBJECT OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT ACTION.

This resolution clarifies that MABCD code enforcement officers who complete inspections under the Uniform Building and Trade Code ("UBTC") may not impose requirements that are not contained within the UBTC or other applicable law. This will assist MABCD code enforcement staff in maintaining fair and consistent practices.
