Amendment to the agreement with South Central Mental Health Counseling Center, Inc.

Recommended Action: Approve the amendment and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: On January 7th, 2015 a contract with South Central in which COMCARE agreed to develop the Community Crisis Center (CCC) was approved. The CCC would be accessible to individuals living in Sedgwick, Butler and Sumner Counties. The target population of the CCC includes children, adolescent and adults who are at risk of a higher level of care, including voluntary or involuntary local and state hospitalization or jail, due to a mental health crisis and/or crisis related to a co-occurring substance use disorder. The target population includes those who are uninsured, under insured, or who have no known payer source.
The contract between South Central Mental Health and COMCARE provides funding for the CCC. This amendment will extend the contract until 12/31/15. There were no other changes to the contract through this amendment.
Alternatives: If this amendment is not approved funding through this contract will end on June 30th, 2015.
Financial Considerations: There are no financial considerations as the amendment does not change the funding amounts.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101 and a simple majority vote is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this proposed staffing change.
