On December 17, 2014, the Board approved a resolution to create a road improvement district to make improvements on Ridge Road to serve Cessna Addition. Bids for the project were received on February 17, 2015 and the total cost of the project is now expected to exceed the amount authorized by Resolution No. 165-2014. The property owners wish to proceed with the project and have submitted a revised petition requesting that the Board proceed with the project. The project was originally authorized for $146,300.00. The new petition requests an increase to $196,000.00
Alternatives: Deny the petition. If the petition is denied, Public Works and the property owners would have to find some other suitable method to finance and construct the improvements.
Financial Considerations: The total estimated project cost is $196,000.00. The resolution authorizes the sale of bonds to finance the project but Public Works has been informed by Cessna that they intend to pay off the actual project costs in cash after they are known but prior to the sale of bonds.
Legal Considerations: K.S.A. 68-728 et seq. as amended by Sedgwick County Charter Resolution No. 61 authorizes the creation of road improvement benefit districts.
