AMENDED AGREEMENT WITH THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES (NACo).

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve NACo's change in dental discount provider from Careington to CAREMARKPC.

Background: The NACo prescription, health and dental discount program provides Sedgwick County residents with access to prescription, health and dental discounts for savings on treatments, procedures and supplies. The prescription discount program is free to residents. The health and dental discount programs are fee-based programs and residents can pay either a monthly or annual fee to obtain discounts and savings.
The Health Department Community Health Navigators (CHN) Program is a group of volunteers who distribute health education materials and affordable healthcare access materials to Sedgwick County residents. Community Health Navigators reach residents in the community at the neighborhood, church and other civic organization levels. Data collected in 2014 identified 207 NACo card distribution site locations in the community and 3,981 Sedgwick County residents utilized the discount cards.
NACo has updated their contract with CAREMARKPC Health to include dental discounts along with prescription and health discounts. NACo will no longer contract with Careington to provide dental discounts. NACo is requesting Sedgwick County's agreement to continue dental discounts with CAREMARKPC. All other terms and conditions of the agreement remain in effect unless one of the parties moves to terminate it.
Alternatives: If the change is not approved, Sedgwick County will no longer offer the dental discount option, although residents who signed up with Careington before October 25, 2014 will have their participation honored. The dental discount option is an important part of the discount services offered by Sedgwick County offers residents.
