Title
Agreement for COMCARE to be a Provider in the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Network.

Body
Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.

Background: COMCARE's Crisis Program operates the Suicide Prevention Hotline, which receives calls twenty-four hours a day seven days a week from individuals in behavioral health crisis situations. COMCARE's Crisis Intervention Services (CIS) has been the suicide prevention service for many years in Sedgwick County.

The proposed agreement would include the CIS hotline as a resource in the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. By joining this network, callers in the Sedgwick County area could be connected to CIS in an attempt to prevent threatened suicides, de-escalate crisis situations, and provide callers with information relating to community resources. For being a network provider, CIS will receive an annual stipend of $2,500 to help offset costs associated with providing this service.

Alternatives: If this agreement were not approved, COMCARE would continue to operate the Suicide Prevention Hotline, but without this source of additional revenue.

Financial Considerations:
Revenue: $2,500
Funding Source: 310586-14
Term: 04/02/14- 04/01/17

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A 19-101 and a simple majority vote is required.

Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the review of this agreement.
