Amendment to Lease Agreement between USD 259 and Sedgwick County for space located at Stanley Elementary, 1749 S. Martinson, Wichita, Kansas for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.

Recommended Action: Approve the Amendment and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Background: Sedgwick County Health Department has leased 2,750 square feet of space at Stanley Elementary, 1749 S. Martinson since January 1, 1992. This space houses the Health Department's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. This amendment increases the leased space to approximately 3,000 square feet with the addition of three offices for program use. Monthly costs will increase by $82.50 per month for the additional space. The Health Department has always paid a pro-rata share of utilities. The pro-rata will increase proportionately with the additional space. Annual cost per square foot remains the same at $4.00 per square foot.
Alternatives: The BOCC could choose not to approve this Amendment to Lease Agreement, in which case the Health Department would not obtain the additional office space.
Financial Considerations: Associated cost center is 380665-11 - WIC Grant. Annual cost to lease the space is $11,978.64. This is an increase of approximately $1,000
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101. A simple majority is required.
Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in establishing the Lease Amendment.
