Title

Contract Amendment with Absolute Home Health Care, Inc.

Body

Recommended Action: Approve the amendment and authorize the Chairman to sign.

Background: Absolute Home Health Care has been partnering with COMCARE to deliver services for the Community Medication Outreach program, which is designed to help consumers who are at high or moderate risk of psychiatric hospitalization or decompensation due to medication non-compliance or inability to adequately self monitor. COMCARE will be providing these medication management services to consumers with their own staff moving forward. The contract amendment extends the agreement with Absolute Home Health Care through April 2012, so that they can be compensated for the services delivered up to this point, and also increases their contract cap by $800,000.00 to cover these additional months. In addition, Attendant Care services were added as a billable service to the agreement, so that they could be billed under the most appropriate service description for reimbursement.

Alternatives: Should the amendment not be approved, Absolute Home Health Care's contract would not be extended, and COMCARE would be not be able to reimburse them for services rendered.

Financial Considerations:

Cost: $3,042,500.00 (Includes original contract allocation for the original contract term, with the additional $800,000.00 to cover the extended period.)

Funding Source: 310686-12 Affiliate Billing (Medicaid Revenue)

Term: 11/1/10-04/30/12

Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101.  A simple majority vote is required.

Policy Considerations: All Sedgwick County policies have been followed in the development of this amendment.
