The 2011 Popular Annual Financial Report was prepared by Finance Staff as a tool to improve public awareness of County activities and financial condition. It was submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for consideration, and after peer review and comparison of the county's popular financial report to established criteria GFOA has awarded the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for Sedgwick County.
Awards are made to governments that extract information from their comprehensive annual financial reports to produce high quality popular annual financial reports specifically designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public and other interested parties without a background in public finance.
Sedgwick County is one of two governments in the state of Kansas to earn the award. This is the 5th consecutive year Sedgwick County has earned the award.
The County's success in earning the Award for the 2011 report is a direct result of the efforts of Sara Jantz, Brandi Baily, who are staff of the accounting department.

Financial Considerations: Receipt of the Award is a validation of the Finance Division's efforts to provide transparency of the county's fiscal activity to taxpayers and others interested in this government.
