Body
This contract is between the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) and Sedgwick County Department on Aging to receive and distribute USDA commodities to eligible persons. This contract allows us to coordinate volunteer pickup with the small cities in Sedgwick County outside the city limits. This contract allows us to receive commodities from the SRS program, The Emergency Food Assistance Program, and distribute them to the outlying communities for needy persons to use in the home.

Financial Considerations: No additional funds are requested. Mileage for volunteers is reimbursed directly from SRS. Aging oversees disbursement as a community service by staff paid in 34001-205 Aging Administration.
Legal Considerations:All contracts have been reviewed by our Legal Department.
Policy Considerations: This program has been very successful in helping low income persons in rural areas and is available to anyone who meets the income guidelines. Community agencies are available within the City of Wichita, and a few organizations available outside the city limits to coordinate distribution of commodities. Our responsibility is to coordinate volunteer pickup of commodities once a month.
